Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical/Piping Designer with a strong background in the Industrial/Pulp & Paper sector plant design. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of industrial engineering designs (3D model, specification, general arrangements, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, etc.) for heavy industrial facilities. You will collaborate in a multi-disciplined design team locally and in other offices in order provide the specified deliverables, achieve client satisfaction and leverage further opportunities.

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum education; Associate Degree in Drafting and Design, Mechanical/Piping design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent

Experience/Qualifications/Certifications

Requirements

  • Minimum education; Associate Degree in Drafting and Design, Mechanical/Piping design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent
  • 8- 15 years of mechanical design experience in industrial projects, preferably in the Pulp & Paper sector
  • Proficient at working in a 3D design environment, including 3D detailed design of piping systems and mechanical equipment. Experience with electrical, structural and civil 3D design is a plus;
  • Experience with AutoPLANT 3D design software preferred
  • Previous experience with process plant design
  • Proven ability to work within a project schedule and deliver designs according to the project deadlines
  • Experience using Leica 3D Scanner and the Cyclone 360 software is a plus
  • Proficient at developing and preparing engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, P&ID’s and other data
  • Experience with assisting engineers and other designers in delivering design drawings and final construction/detail drawings, for engineering projects
  • Proven ability to collaborate with a design team located in multiple offices
  • Pulp & Paper knowledge with an understanding of the process steps within a pulp mill
  • Experience working in a Pulp & Paper mill environment is highly desired
  • Adaptability – Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office suite of software
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
